Bill Brandt's uses the light and shadow effect on some of his photographs. He takes portraits of people and I like his variety about the different poses and eye direction of his subject. Some of them are looking directly at the camera but at different angles. The rest are looking away into a different direction, looking something that is not seen within the photo. He also photographs people in their natural environment performing their day by day tasks such as the maids and servants. Other photographs include people facing the other way, their faces a mystery because they can't be seen. He works with light and shadow, some of his photographs contain subjects with black shadows that obscure parts of their faces making it difficult to see the whole face of the subject. Some his photos are natural while the rest are staged or posed. He also does close up photography when he took closes up photos of the subjects eyes, ears, hands, and legs.
